Kim Santos has been working at the Daily Review for over two years and in the Bay Area News Group (formerly ANG Newspapers) chain, which owns the Daily Review, for almost seven years.
Kim was the city editor at the Review before being promoted to Editor in April 2007. Other positions include Senior News Editor at the San Mateo County Times, Cops/Courts Reporter at the Tri-Valley Herald, and Copy Editor/Designer for all papers in the former ANG chain.
Kim graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism, and is a Hayward resident and Bay Area native.

Hayward Demos will screen the film, Who Killed the Electric Car?.
Who Killed the Electric Car? is a 2006 documentary film that explores the birth, limited commercialization, and subsequent death of the battery electric vehicle in the United States, specifically the General Motors EV1 of the 1990s.
The film explores the roles of automobile manufacturers, the oil industry, the US government, batteries, hydrogen vehicles, and consumers in limiting the development and adoption of this technology.

Senator Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro), the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and co-author of SB840, will discuss the legislative scene in Sacramento. Sen. Corbett is also a member of the Appropriations, Business and Professions, and Transportation and Housing Committees.
Sen. Corbett was elected in 2006 to represent the 10th Senate District, an East Bay district that includes the cities of San Leandro, Fremont, Hayward, Union City, Pleasanton, Milpitas and Newark and part of San Jose, as well as the communities of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo and Sunol.
A former member of the state Assembly (1998-2004), Sen. Corbett has a long history of public service in the district. She served as a city councilmember and mayor of San Leandro and worked as an attorney, community college professor and civic activist.
During her Assembly tenure, she chaired the Judiciary Committee and the Revenue & Taxation Committee. Her legislative record includes legislation to reduce prescription drug costs, restore wetlands along the Bay, protect consumer rights and increase penalties for discrimination against the disabled.
Sen. Corbett attended local schools in the East Bay, including Chabot Community College and California State University, Hayward. She graduated from the University of California, Davis and McGeorge Law School. Prior to her legislative career, Sen. Corbett practiced civil law.

Assemblymember Mary Hayashi will speak about her legislative agenda, especially the status of health care reform.
Mary Hayashi was elected to the California State Assembly in 2006. She represents the 18th Assembly District which includes San Leandro, Hayward, Dublin and the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, and San Lorenzo. She also represents most of Castro Valley, Pleasanton and a portion of Oakland.
Assemblywoman Hayashi is the founder of the Iris Alliance Fund, a children's mental health foundation, and served as the Alameda County Coordinator in the winning campaign to pass Proposition 63, which will expand mental health care services for children and adults in need. Assemblywoman Hayashi also served as Commissioner on the California Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission, which was created to monitor the implementation of this measure.

Kevin and Jesus will present the details of the Proposal to route downtown traffic in a Miniloop and the widening of Mission Boulevard with the goal of alleviating the traffic congestion in Downtown Hayward.
After 17 years as City Manager of Hayward and 30 years with the city, Jesus will be retiring in June.

Leta Stagnaro, Ohlone College-Newark Dean of Exercise Science-Wellness. Leta will give a slide demonstration of a new green building being constructed on the Newark Campus.
Professor Sherman Lewis, President, Hayward Area Planning Association (HAPA). HAPA ia a citizen organization that advocates for green, sustainable neighborhoods. Since 1978, HAPA has worked for better local planning.
